  Introduction

During this Chapter, we will learn how to use our terminal - a way to give our computer commands directly. We'll also set up our developer environment so we can start coding and work with version control for good project management.

Note! Please follow the instructions carefully step by step. If you run into a problem ask us in the Slack channel by formulating your question and we will help you get up and running.

Development Environment Setup

One of the first things you need to do before you start going through the challenges in this course is to set up the environment with all the applications you need to be able to write and run code. This is optional though.

Every step in this material can be completed using a hosted development environment. If you want to know more about Cloud services and how to set them up, please see chapter Working in the Cloud.

Alright, let's focus on how to set up your local development environment. We'll be covering both OSX and Linux, so jump to whatever section that suites you.
